On New Year's Eve, Alta has a torchlight parade and fireworks! It follows the main cat track from Watsons Cafe to the base of the mountain. Visitors wishing to participate in the parade should wear old clothes, bring goggles, leave your poles at home and must be able to hold a snowplow down the entire cat track. Participants meet at the Wildcat lift ready to go up at 5:15 pm. To watch the torchlight parade, the Goldminers Daughter is a good spot or park along the main road. The torchlight will take place between 6:00 and 6:30 pm.
