Picture of the Day
From Ballroom to Devil's Castle, pictures of everything that is Alta.
Alta attracts artists. This is Skier Services employee Le Grand Johnston showing off the glass snowflake necklaces he makes. Le Grand also paints, blows glass and makes ceramics. You can see more of his art at berntworks.com.
We had beautiful spring skiing today with warm temps, clear skies and great corn snow. Jacinda Isabey, visiting from New Hampshire, takes full advantage of the conditions, laying down some nice troughs on Razor Back.
The one and only Ski Utah Powder Hound, a.k.a. Matt Baydala (right), with friends Jason Morgan and Caitlin Doyle, enjoying the brats and beers special today on the Alf's Restaurant deck.
Cold, wet, lazy? Take a break at Collins Grill, on the third floor of Watson Shelter. Check out the bacon-wrapped jalapeno popper on top of Jenni's Bloody Mary!
Retro Day - April 1st - April Fools: whatever you wanna call it, Rachel Arnold and Jacqueline Scott from the the Rustler dining room had it going on today with their styling onesies.
When conditions are warm and springy, the grill comes out at Watson Shelter. Here, Collins Grill employee Derek chomps into a fresh-off-the-grill brat.
Today is the annual Alta biathlon, in which Alta employees and community members compete with skate skis, bow and arrows to find out who's the best. It's a serious contest and people have been training and making all kinds of ludicrous claims for weeks, now. This is the 3rd year Alta Ski Shop tuner Jack (pictured) has built a ski chair for the grand prize. Lucy, Alta Ski Patrol's cutest and most popular employee, was included in the picture just for the page views.
The old school Cecret double is one of Alta's best kept secrets. It's a great way for beginners to lengthen their green runs and it's the quickest way to get to Supreme from the Albion Base.
