Bird Survey Project

Bird Monitoring Project

A bird’s relationship with the environment can be telling in many ways, yielding insight for adapting management practices and conservation efforts.

Finding feathered fun
In collaboration with Friends of Alta, Bird Conservancy of the Rockies, with Tracy Aviary leading the way, we are conducting a three-year bird monitoring study to determine a baseline of bird species for Alta.  This study will aid in a larger collaborative effort to support third-party environmental research, and to give conservation managers and the Alta community greater insight into the dynamics of our feathered friends.

Monthly Bird Surveys

Skiing & birding!

Join Tracy Aviary’s expert birders on skis in search of our feathered friends that call Alta home.  These surveys offer both an introduction to the beginner and a good challenge for the avid birder. Excitingly all attendees participate in the data collection of the survey, which is submitted to eBird and included within the greater bird species baseline for Alta.  Come and learn a bit about the birds and other volunteer opportunities. Pre-registration is needed.

2017 - 2018 Winter Bird Survey Ski Schedule
