As long as skiers have looked to the mountains for fun and adventure, they have also looked for ways to stay properly nourished on long days. From cheese and crackers to granola to processed meats to energy bars to pocket bacon, every skier has their favorite. One of the best ski meals is a hearty breakfast burrito. They’re convenient, calorie dense, portable and delicious.

In honor of National Burrito Day, here are the Top 5 Burritos of Alta.

The Breakfast Burrito at Albion Grill

This is one of those “locals secret” types of burritos. Conveniently located in the Albion Grill, slopeside and just steps from the parking lot, this classic take on a breakfast burrito is loaded with eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage and cheese, served with sides of sour cream and salsa. But make sure to get there early, breakfast is only served until 10am.

The Morning After Burrito at Alta Java

On the other side of the burrito spectrum is Alta Java’s Morning After Burrito. A sweet and tasty combination of french toast-style tortilla, with scrambled eggs, sausage and maple syrup. It’s a great way to start your day after staying up too late the night before. Served until 4pm.

The Carnitas or Chicken Burrito at the Slopeside Cafe

The Slopeside Cafe at the Goldminer's Daughter serves a flour tortilla with rice, black beans, cheddar, homemade pico de gallo and your choice of meat. It’s a filling lunch burrito for a day filled with skiing.

The Breakfast Burrito at the Slopeside Cafe

This is the ideal burrito for the skier on the go. Eggs, bacon, home fries, cheddar and pico de gallo wrapped in a flour tortilla. Grab this classic breakfast from the Slopeside Cafe of the GMD Lodge, wrap it in foil, throw it in your pocket and go. It's perfect for a chairlift or summit meal, as long as you pick one up before 10am.

The Fajita Burrito at Alf’s Restaurant

Alf's Restaurant in Alf's mid-mountain lodge serves a tasty mix of grilled chicken, peppers and onions in a spinach tortilla. Served with a side of salsa and a homemade Chili-Lime Sauce that you can’t find anywhere else.
