Hailey Fatcheric, a young Alta skier, came up to celebrate winter and the upcoming ski season at the Welcome to Winter Party today, and she can roast a pretty mean marshmallow! See you on the slopes this winter Hailey!
Sunflowers line the sides of the road up and down Little Cottonwood Canyon this time of year. The unofficial last day of summer passed a few days ago and we get that much closer to winter. Fires are burning all over the west and our thoughts and prayers go out to those affects by them.
The last solar eclipse visible from North America was in 1979. During coverage, ABC reporter Frank Reynolds said in reference to the next eclipse "...that will be 38 years from now. May the shadow of the moon fall on a world at peace." The next total eclipse for North America will be April 8, 2024. Challenge accepted...
Friday was a great day for a little hike up to Cecret Lake. There are still plenty of flowers up here and the views never get old. Please remember not to pick the flowers, stick to designated trails, and as always respect all the wildlife.
The wild flowers in Albion Basin are at their peak and are absolutely stunning. This photo was taken just as the sun was going down behind Mt Superior. Something to add to the bucket list if you haven't seen them before.
Joe Johnson and Drew Petersen shortly after finishing the Cirque Series race at Alta.
Drew's fun fact: "I can eat more burritos than Joe Johnson."
Joe's fun fact: "I adventure picnic way harder than Drew Petersen."
It's the first of July and we are starting to see some of those beautiful wildflowers starting to pop up around the ski area. Alta may be as lush as I have ever seen, with green as far as the eye can see. Soon the green will be accompanied by various blues, yellows, and reds. It's going to be quite a sight.
Cousins Kasha Meck and Lola Graham beating the heat by sledding at the Wildcat base. Lola Graham, her brother Jaxon, mother Chris and father Jim are visiting the local Meck family from Philadelphia. This photo was taken by Jim Graham. Thanks for paying us a visit during your vacation!
It's June 8th and just a little way down the road from Alta you can find the snow on the side of the road. Only at this time of year it's in a different state of matter. Our liquid snow is raging down the middle of Little Cottonwood Canyon. A reminder of just how much snow we got this season.
