The NBC broadcast crew joined Derek Sundquist, a quadriplegic skier, today at Alta as he continues to live his dream as a skier through a revolutionary adaptive ski developed by University of Utah Adaptive sports. Derek controls the ski by sipping and puffing into a straw. It was certainly a day filled with inspiration.
Wasatch Backcountry Rescue has been training avalanche dogs and their handlers in Utah for over 40 years, and they are currently up here at Alta and Snowbird. This photo is of one of the many adorable and extremely talented pups, digging through the snow in a practice drill finding two 'buried' people.
