Job Description

ap & ar sPECIALIST

Alta Ski Area, one of North America’s premier ski destinations, is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Specialist to join its year-round accounting team. This role supports core accounting operations with a primary focus on accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations and transaction review.

The ideal candidate brings strong accounting skills, sound judgment and the ability to communicate effectively with vendors, guests and internal team members in a mountain operations environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable transactions, including receiving, recording, and paying invoices on time; maintain current vendor W-9 records and prepare annual 1099 tax forms
  • Manage accounts receivable activities for account sales and contractual agreements, including tracking, billing, and payment follow-up
  • Perform account reconciliations and investigate, analyze, and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Conduct periodic inventory reviews and complete detailed end-of-season inventory analysis
  • Review daily e-commerce sales activity and monitor Pay-As-You-Ski receivables for accuracy and completeness
  • Provide additional accounting and administrative support as needed to the Corporate Controller and management team

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and resolve them effectively
  • Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work collaboratively with an established team
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with guests, vendors and team members
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field preferred, or at least three years of relevant accounting experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in preparing journal entries and supporting general accounting processes
  • Experience in analyzing and resolving reconciliation discrepancies
  • Ability to analyze data sets and identify trends, issues, and exceptions
  • Interest in skiing and mountain operations is a plus

Work Schedule

Full-time, year-round position—40 hours per week.

  • Summer schedule: generally consists of four 10-hour days, Monday through Thursday—providing three-day weekends
  • Winter schedule: generally consists of a five-day workweek that includes one weekend day—ski breaks are encouraged
