Job Description
The Building Technician position requires a candidate who can carry out projects as instructed, has the experience necessary to solve unforeseen issues creatively and has the ability to complete work unsupervised. This position carries out preventative maintenance, troubleshooting problems as they arise and recognizing potential hazards to the company, its property and the guests.
Building Techs must be able to communicate with the department head and other techs the parts and tools required to safely complete work, as well as coordinate with outside contractors and suppliers.
This position is a full-time, year-round day job that requires occasional work to be completed after hours.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage and maintain the building heating and HVAC systems, including the boilers, snowmelt, air handling, as well as changing filters and belts, monitoring pressures and maintaining pumps.
- Manage and maintain water utilization equipment and waste systems, including plumbing repairs to copper, pex and ABS, installing and repairing fixtures, removing clogs and keeping culinary water systems within specs.
- Maintain the building façade, structures and envelopes, including drywall repairs, minor carpentry and roofing, changing ceiling tiles, flooring repairs and painting.
- Maintain the building keyways, locks, handle sets and door closer equipment.
- Assist in troubleshooting and maintaining the building fire suppression systems, including receiving and responding to the monitoring company phone calls.
- Assist in all building-related annual inspections and remedying known deficiencies to the fire sprinklers and extinguishers, boilers, elevators and restaurant spaces and equipment.
- Gain proficiency in the company’s building automation program and maintain the hardware necessary for it to function.
- Help manage the company housing, including key distribution, repairs and check-out procedures.
- Assist the janitorial crew in snow removal, transition maintenance, cornices, ice dams and cleanups.
- Assist the other members of the Building Maintenance Department and Company Management in the completion of their projects when necessary.
- Help organize the Building Maintenance office and workshop, including parts and tools inventory.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must be able to lift 70 lbs.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Able to work weekends, holidays and after normal business hours as needed.
- Must have an intermediate skiing ability.
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and at heights.
- Can reliably commute to and from the ski area in all weather conditions.
- Must have a valid US drivers license.
