Many private companies provide ground transportation from the airport to Alta, which is a great option if you are staying in the canyon. The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) also has scheduled public ski buses that carry skiers to and from Alta all winter.
UTA Ski Bus & Public Transportation
Alta Ski Area is easily accessible via public transportation. From the airport, hotel or home. From Ogden to Park City to Provo, UTA has a way to get you to the mountains. We anticipate reduced carpooling, limited capacity on the UTA Ski Bus and an increase in backcountry skiing. All of these variables will make parking and getting to Alta more complicated than what we've grown accustomed to.
UTA will be implementing additional safety measures for Ski Bus service to help you stay safe all season long. These efforts include limiting the number of riders per bus, enforcing mask-wearing at all times and creating socially distanced lines at key bus stops.
When parking is full, the UTA Ski Bus may be the best way to get to Alta on busy days.
UTA Ski Bus Benefits for Season PassHolders2020-21 Alta season passes that include the UTA Benefit (now including Ikon passes) receive free ridership on all UTA Ski Bus Routes. Includes Trax and other UTA bus services only when used in-transit with a Ski Bus Route.
