Transportation Services to and from Alta.

Many private companies provide ground transportation from the airport to Alta, which is a great option if you are staying in the canyon. The Utah Transit Authority (UTA) also has scheduled public ski buses that carry skiers to and from Alta all winter.

GETTING TO ALTA

Cottonwood Connect

Returning for the 2023–24 ski season, Cottonwood Connect Ski Shuttle is a convenient, comfortable, safe and reliable way to get up the mountain this winter. Reservations are required to ride the Cottonwood Connect—to ensure your stress-free ride up the canyons, make your reservation today.

  • Starting December 22nd through January 1st and then Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays through April 14th.
  • Morning departure times: 7:00, 8:00, 9:30 and 10:30am
  • Return times: 2:00, 2:30, 4:30, and 5:00pm
  • Cost: $20 round-trip per rider/$10 per rider, one-way
  • Passengers can choose their time of departure and return pickup times from the resorts
  • Passengers must keep their reserved schedule. Switching bus routes or return times will not be allowed.

Utah Transit Authority Ski Bus

Alta Ski Area is easily accessible via public transportation, from the airport, hotel or home. When parking is full, the UTA Ski Bus may be the best way to get to Alta on busy days. UTA operates a free Ski Bus route between Alta and Snowbird.

  • Start Date: November 26th, 2023
  • End Date: April 13th, 2024
  • 30-minute service
  • Service begins at 6:01am and ends at 6:09pm

Airport & Canyon Shuttle Services

There are many companies that offer shuttles services to, and from, Alta. Little Cottonwood Canyon is often restricted to 4X4 vehicles with snow tires or chains. Please make sure your transportation company can get you to and from Alta during road restrictions and through inclement weather.

Ride-Sharing Apps

Uber and Lyft provide service in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Make sure to order an UberSki or Lyft Ski Rack if transporting ski gear. Please consider 4WD/Chain restrictions when utilizing a ride-share app and wear a mask.

Transportation within the Alta-Snowbird Area

Alta Shuttle

The Alta Resort Shuttle has operated for years within the Town of Alta, serving wintertime skiers and guests while providing transportation options as an alternative to renting a vehicle. New this year, a second shuttle is now running to accommodate for UTA Ski Bus shortages. This enhanced service is funded by UTA, Alta Ski Area, local businesses, and the Town of Alta.

  • The Alta Shuttle runs from 7am–6pm
  • The Alta Night Shuttle runs from 6–10pm
  • Shuttle pick-ups occur every 30 minutes
