Ski equipment is not included. Rentals for skis, poles, boots and helmets are available from Alta Ski Shop, along with gear for purchase.

Layered, ski-specific clothing for varying weather and mountain temps is the key to staying warm and comfortable. Goggles are recommended, especially on sunny and snowy days.

If you need to rent ski clothing, options are available at the Motherload Powder House in the Wildcat base area and in the Salt Lake Valley at Ski 'N See, Utah Ski & Golf and Wasatch Ski Rental.

We ski in all conditions. Dress in ski-specific clothing and use layers to help stay warm and dry.

Check road conditions before heading up. There are times when Highway 210—Little Cottonwood Canyon Road—may close or require traction devices during storms. Follow UDOT Cottonwoods for up-to-the-minute road conditions, closures and Traction Law information.

Plan on arriving at least 30 minutes early for check-in at the Albion base area (second entrance). Go to the Ski School Ticket Office at the parking lot level to check in and get your lesson ticket. Please have your reservation confirmation available—printed or on your phone.

If you need to rent equipment, please arrive at least an hour before your lesson.

The UTA bus does not stop at the Albion base area. You must transfer from the UTA bus at the Wildcat base to an Alta Shuttle that will take you to the Albion base area. The Alta Shuttle is scheduled to arrive within five minutes of the UTA bus drop-off. You can also call them at 801.301.0122.

Late arrivals may not be accommodated, even with a reservation, once groups are on the slopes. Allow for extra time to navigate ski rentals, canyon traffic, parking and crowds—especially on peak days.

Each Adult Group Lesson lasts 2.5 hours—beginning at 1:30pm and ending at 4pm.

Lessons are the best way to build confidence and enjoy your time on the mountain. Many adults can ski Alta's beginner "green" runs after 3–4 lessons and some practice. Others need more time to find their confidence.

If you are looking for extra support or a more tailored experience, private lessons can be a great way to build confidence and fun.
