Skills Required: Ski blue runs aggressively and ride lifts without an adult
The Alta Race Team (ART) is an introductory racing program for skiers ages 8–11, consisting of 11 training sessions and four races. The goal of ART is to introduce young skiers to the personal development and excitement associated with alpine ski racing.
ART participants skiing will consist of approximately 50% gate training, 25% drills and 25% directed free skiing with a coach. Terrain skied will be approximately 25% green, 50% blue and 25% black. The primary skills emphasized include gliding fast on gentle terrain and carving arcs on moderate terrain. More challenging terrain is used sparingly in the lesson plan to enhance skills, boost comfort zone and create excitement.
