The Six Ws of Alta Lady Shred—an interview with Sarah McMath.
The story behind Alta Lady Shred—an interview with Alta Lady Shredder, Sarah McMath
Alta Lady Shred is an organic movement that popped up at Alta Ski Area in the past few seasons. While maybe not a common sight at most ski resorts, packs of ripping female skiers have been reported on the slopes of Alta. We sat down with one of Alta Lady Shred's founding mothers, Sarah McMath, to find out the six Ws of Alta Lady Shred: When. Where. Who. Why. What. And Women.
When is lady shred?
Every Sunday at 2:30pm (but also any time ladies are shredding together).
Where is Lady Shred?
Alta Lady Shred meets outside the Skier Services building at the base of Wildcat and Collins lifts (but also wherever ladies are shredding runs at Alta).
Who is Lady Shred?
If you are a lady who enjoys skiing—no matter your skill level—and want to meet fellow lady shredders, then Alta Lady Shred Sundays are for you.
Why do You Lady shred?
To promote the women’s skiing community of Alta. While skiing with boys is fun, skiing with a group of ladies provides a whole different attitude. It’s an environment where girls are encouraged to have fun and smiling is a must. A place where ladies can relate through the common bond of sliding on snow.
Alta Lady Shred is the perfect opportunity to hop on a chair and strike up a conversation with someone new, someone who could be a ski buddy for life!
What is Alta Lady Shred?
women + skiing = #AltaLadyShred
We encourage you to meet fellow skiers on the mountain with the hopes you continue these friendships throughout the season, or meet a familiar jacket and reintroduce yourself to a friend. We support other women to challenge themselves—within your limits, of course—while knowing they are surrounded by encouraging fellow lady shredders.
