Fire Restrictions
Town of Alta:
The Town of Alta recently implemented Stage 2 Restrictions—no open fires of any kind, including fires within an established fire pit, charcoal grills, pellet grills or ash-producing fuel. Properly shielded gas or liquid-fueled portable camp stoves with a shut-off valve are allowed, so long as there is at least three feet in diameter that is barren with no flammable vegetation.
Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest:
Fire restrictions were implemented on the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest on Friday, August 8, 2025, for public health and safety and to reduce the potential for human-caused fires.
The Uinta-Wasatch-Cache Fire Management Officers keep a watchful eye over fire conditions in our mountains. General fire precautions in our national forest are as follows:
- Fires are not allowed outside of developed campsites with fire rings. This applies to hunters as well.
- Smoking is limited to within closed vehicles, buildings, in developed campgrounds or while stopped in an area at least 3 feet in diameter that is barren or cleared of any flammable material.
- Fire restrictions typically remain in effect until significant precipitation is received.
