Navigating Alta's paid parking reservation system for the 2023–24 winter.

Returning for another winter, parking reservations will be required to ski Alta this season every Friday–Sunday & Holidays. Our parking reservation system greatly improved the skiing experience—providing skiers the reassurance that they would have a place to park without having to arrive hours before first chair.

All of the information stated on this page represents our current direction but may change in the future to better fit the needs of our skiers.

Friday–Sunday & HOLIDAY paid PARKING RESERVATIONs. Why?

Provides Alta skiers the assurance that there will be a parking space before driving up Little Cottonwood Canyon.
Eases early morning traffic congestion resulting from limited parking available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
- Alta skiers will no longer need to arrive hours before first chair to secure a parking spot Friday–Sunday and holidays.
- Ski area employees will be able to arrive on time and prepare the ski area and parking areas for you.
Manage the ski experience by limiting the number of skiers to available terrain and lift capacity.

Reservations Required

Reservations required: Friday–Sunday & Holidays from 8am–1pm.

Reservations begin Friday, December 15th, 2023.
Holidays: December 22nd, 2023 – January 1st, January 15th & February 19th.
Reservations end Sunday, March 31st, 2024.
Reservations will be required during our Closing Weekend.

NO RESERVATIONS REQUIRED

Monday through Thursday after 7:30am—excluding holiday periods.
Opening day through December 14th, 2023.
Any day after 1pm.
Parking will remain first-come, first-serve on 90+ days during the 2023–24 season.

How Do Paid Parking Reservations Work?

Parking reservations are verified by your license plate and are scanned while you are parked.
Parking Reservations can be purchased online.
- Reservations will be available for $25 per day.
- Purchasers of lift tickets on Alta.com are eligible to book parking reservations for $10 per day.
Qualifying Alta and Alta-Bird passholders are eligible for free parking reservations.
- Qualifying Alta passholders will receive code(s) that can be used to book free parking reservations.
- Reservation codes may be reused once the active reservation date has passed.
All parking reservations are subject to availability.
The fine for parking without a reservation will be $75.
Alta will release additional parking each Sunday at 3pm (Mountain Time) for the following weekend or holiday period.

Early Morning Reservations
- Reservations are required daily if you would like to park before 8am.
- Early Morning Reservations allow dawn patrol skiers and early risers the ability to park at 6am in the South Flagstaff lot.
- $25 per reservation Friday–Sunday & holidays.
- $15 per reservation Monday–Thursday.
- With an Early Morning Reservation, you are welcome to occupy that parking spot for the day.

No. Parking reservations are only required Friday–Sunday & holidays from 8am–1pm (December 15th–March 31st and Closing Day). 90+ Alta days are still first-come, first-served, just like it's always been.

No, the parking reservation will allow the skier to park in any of the designated lots, it does not guarantee a specific parking spot or parking in a specific lot.

Yes. Please work directly with your ski lodge or lodging property and they will advise.

Cancellations made before 8am the day of your parking reservation are eligible for refunds.

Overnight parking is NOT allowed in Little Cottonwood Canyon, with the exception of designated registered lodge guests, designated private cabin guests and employee parking zones. If you are staying in Alta, it is not necessary to have a car. Most lodges and condominiums are slopeside or provide transportation.

Yes. Your credit card will automatically be refunded within 7-10 business days.

Yes. You’ll need to secure your parking reservation before booking your lesson. Parking reservations are required Friday–Sunday and Holidays from 8am–1pm.

Yes, parking reservations are required on weekends & holidays. Alta's parking crew will make every effort to provide our best available parking to those individuals with ADA plates or placards.

Yes, a $25 parking reservation fee applies to the Grizzly, Flagstaff (South Side), Wildcat and Albion lots Friday–Sunday & holidays from 8am–1pm. Consider carpooling or riding the UTA Ski Bus.

Parking reservations can be made online in late October.

Failure to cancel free Alta season passholder reservations may result in pausing future passholder reservation benefits. Please note that if you are ill or have an emergency, email altaparking@interstateparking.com so that you do not need to drive up the canyon. We understand that life happens and we are more than willing to work with you in most unplanned situations.

Complimentary parking reservations for qualifying Alta passholders. Qualifying Alta passholders will receive code(s) that can be used to book parking reservations. Reservation codes may be reused once the 8am active reservation date has passed.

- Qualifying Alta passes: Family Package, Adult, 65+, 80+, 18-25, Military, Gold Card, Powder Card & 10-Day Card.

- Qualifying Alta-Bird passes: Family Package, Adult, 65+, 18-25 & Military.

Yes. In addition to your parking reservations, Alta passholders can purchase additional weekend & holiday reservations for $25 per day.

Reservations are verified by your license plate. It's that simple. There are no physical kiosks or booths to slow the flow of traffic in the canyon or at Alta.

Yes. Contact the ski school office to purchase a parking permit valid for the dates of your child's program.
