The Inspiring Ladies of Ladies Day.

What is Ladies Day?
Each season, beginning in mid-January, dozens of women gather together for Ladies Day. This five-week program is for women looking to push beyond their comfort level alongside top-tier female instructors within the Alf Engen Ski School. The classes are intended for women of all ages, from intermediate through advanced level skiers. Alta's passionate instructors lead dynamic groups of women who all share a mindset of determination and the curiosity to learn and grow together with the goal of building skills and confidence when venturing off-trail.
Each session encompasses three hours of instruction, and a new focus is presented each week. Women practice the skills on-piste before heading off-trail to apply their learnings. As the weeks progress, friendships are formed and the instructors strive to curate a positive atmosphere as the women blossom into better skiers during their time together. There is something special about being surrounded by women supporting one another.
I needed a space where I could be vulnerable with my skiing. Sure, I can push through almost anything—but that doesn’t mean I always want to. This program’s unique structure welcomed me exactly where I am in my relationship with skiing, allowing me to open up, ease the pressure and grow with support.

Who Are the Instructors of Ladies Day?
Alta's most experienced female ski instructors lead small groups of students each Ladies Day. These top instructors bring many years of dedicated ski teaching and the experience to accommodate different learning styles and provide personalized coaching. All Alta ski instructors maintain PSIA certification and undergo continued annual trainings, refining their teaching expertise. The ladies of the Alf Engen Ski School shape their lives around skiing and strive to share their technical skills and tactics while promoting a mindset of capability and confidence in the women they lead.
There is nothing like the feeling of watching your student click. It's so rewarding to see their grins and hear "Let's go do that again!" or "That felt great."
- Lauren Shaw, Ladies Day lead coach

Who Should Join Ladies Day?
Women of all ages and intermediate or expert ski ability will find friendship, community and inspiration through Ladies Day. Women will accomplish what they didn't think possible in their time together. Says Lead Coach, Lauren Shaw, "We often get the feedback that our participants can't wait for next season's Ladies Day!"
For women looking to progress their skiing and revel in breakthroughs big and small, Ladies Day provides a container for that to happen. Young or old, brave or timid, the safe space created by Ladies Day can be life-changing.
There were the "skills & drills" moments but there were also many moments of human connection and laughter in between. This was incredibly beneficial to not only my physical health, but my mental health too.
- Stef, Ladies Day participant

Despite traveling along different paths, diverse backgrounds and showing up with different skillsets, the common thread in each Ladies Day group is a love of skiing and a curiosity to keep growing. Moms, retirees and busy professionals come together on Ladies Day to take a moment for themselves in the mountains.
I wanted people to ski with that were at my skiing level where I could slow it down and learn without rushing to catch up. You learn and advance as a group and all had a focus on learning the same skills. We advanced and celebrated our wins as a group. And we bonded over those wins.
